History of Corinthian Lodge No. 104

Lodge History

C
orinthian Lodge No. 104 received it's charter in 1868, three years after the end of the civil war which ended on April 9, 1865.

Masonic membership increased rapidly in Bridgeport as elsewhere. The charter was granted to Mathew Diamond and other applicants, all of whom were demittees from old St. John's.

Corinthian Lodge No. 104 met in various locations until they moved into the Masonic Temple in Broad Street, Bridgeport, on or about 1895, where they remained as an active lodge until 1965 when the new Masonic Temple at 3045 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, was dedicated on November 13, 1965.

During the early days of the new Masonic Temple in Bridgeport, the lodge was very active with over 1,100 members.broard-street

In 1955, many members and wives visited Corinthian Lodge No. 62 in Montreal and again in 1958 Bob Warner as Master took over 200 members and wives to an Entered Apprentice degree at the George Washington memorial in Alexandria.

The lodge has continued to flourish and stand on its own feet due to the part ownership of the Broad Street building in Bridgeport and having a strong financial base to work from.

It is the responsibility of the present master members of the lodge to continue the history and legacy set forth by past masters and lodge members.

Corinthian Lodge No. 104 has a glorious history and a potentially a glorious future. The members of the lodge are the life-blood and the future. The more members that attend meetings, the better the health and security of the lodge.

lodgeWe have fine new members entering the lodge as Entered Apprentice this year. Please come and support them and show them the past history of the lodge. Let them see who we were and who they can be.

Above is a photo of our original home at Broad Street, Bridgeport and to the left is our new home in Fairfield. The building is owned by Fidelity-St. Johns Lodge No.3. We share the premises with them and align our social calendar with theirs.
